About Library
Rani Dhanya Kumari College is situated in a semi-urban locality of the district of Murshidabad in West Bengal having a campus area of 3.00 acres. The college library of Rani Dhanya Kumari College was set up in the same year with the objective of imparting higher education and it is the core learning resource of the college which plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of teaching - learning environment in the institution. The library underwent a significant expansion in 2024, acquiring an additional room and now occupying approximately 3,000 sq. ft. on the first floor of the main building. The library has a rich collection of documents in the form of text books, reference books, pamphlets, journals, magazines, maps, newspapers and CDs/DVDs for the use of its members which are well organised and classified under the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) system. At present the college has a collection of approximately 19000 books. The library has taken institutional membership of INFLIBNET- NLIST to fulfil ever growing information thirst of the users. The library covers 3000 sq.ft. (approx) of carpet area housed in the First Floor of the Main Building. Total area of the library consists with a Stack Room, Circulation Section, Reading Room for the students, Special Study Room for the teaching staffs, separate Information Desk to provide reference and referral service to the users, specified Reprography Section where photocopying facilities available and librarians’ Room. There is a water purifier with water dispenser to supply purified cold drinking water to the users. The reading room of the library has been Wi-Fi enabled. Users can access the Internet from their own gadgets subject to authorization. The entire library secured with CCTV surveillance to safe guard its possession of books and other physical properties. The library has installed several fire extinguishers for prevention of fire hazards in library. The library has automated with the utilization of Koha open-source Integrated Library Management Software (ILMS).

Library Rules
- A student can take two (2) books of different subjects at a time for fifteen (15) days against Book Issue Card.
- A student can reissue the book for another fifteen (15) days if he / she submits the book within scheduled date and if there is no such demand for the said book
- A student can reissue the book for maximum one time.
- A fine of Re.1/- will be charged per book per day.
- Books once issued shall not be taken back on the same day.
- Books lost, damaged, defaced or injured in any other way shall be replaced by the borrower.
- A student of any discipline can take maximum two (2) books for reading purpose against Reading Room Card and he / she has to submit the book within 4.30 p.m. of the same day, failing which a fine of Rs. 100/- per book per day will be charged.
- Students have to keep their belongings at the Bag Counter to enter the Stack Area & Reading Room.
- Before leaving the library each and every student must satisfy himself as to whether book (s) lent to him are in good condition and if not, he /she shall immediately bring the matter to the notice of the Librarian. Otherwise, he / she shall be held responsible for the replacement of the book (s) failing which the market price of the book shall be realized from him.
- Books lent out to the students may be recalled at any time by the Librarians.
- Loss of Library Cards must immediately be reported to the Librarian in writing, failing which the student concerned will be held responsible for all subsequent misuse of the same.
- A fine of Rs. 25/- will be charged for issuing a duplicate Library Card.
- No student can enter the Library without Library Card.
- General Reference Books (e.g. dictionary, encyclopaedia), Subject Reference Books, CDs, Cassettes, Periodicals, Newspapers etc. are not allowed to issue for home. Members may consult these within the library with special permission.
- Library Clearance would not be issued without Library Cards.
- Marksheet/Certificate of final examination will not be given without Library Clearance Certificate.
- Complete discipline and silence must be maintained in the library. Gossiping, spitting, sleeping and using Mobile phone shall be treated as cases of misconduct.
- The Library Cards are not transferable.
